Counselling that makes room for your whole life.

Finding the right therapist can be hard. No therapist is right for every person. What matters is genuine curiosity, being met where you are and deciding together what may be useful.

Honesty without judgement

There is a real difference between being held accountable and being judged.

I can be direct, and I may gently draw attention to patterns, contradictions or blind spots when I believe that could be useful. This should never leave you feeling pushed, shamed or prescribed a solution. The work can be gentle, compassionate and honest at the same time.

One service

Counselling and psychotherapy, together.

Counselling may begin with what is happening in your life now. Psychotherapy can allow us to explore longer-standing patterns, protective responses, relationships and deeper questions of identity or meaning.

For me, these are deeply intertwined. They are offered as one service, and we will decide together where the work needs to go.

What holistic means here

Understanding you in context.

What you are experiencing does not exist in isolation. Holistic counselling means understanding you within the context of your broader life rather than treating one part of your experience as though it exists alone.

Our work may make room for your relationships, culture, identity, work, home, finances, health, sleep, safety and the systems around youโ€”without reducing you to any one part of your experience.

My approach

Collaborative, curious and responsive to the person in front of me.

My work is whole-person and process-oriented. It is neurodiversity-affirming, existentially curious and spiritually open without assuming any particular belief system.

โ€“ Whole-person and process-oriented
โ€“ Neurodiversity-affirming
โ€“ Existentially curious
โ€“ Spiritually open
โ€“ Practical and psychoeducational where useful
โ€“ Direct, compassionate and non-judgemental
โ€“ Collaborative
โ€“ Respectful of culture, identity and context

At times, the work may be practical or psychoeducational. At other times, it may involve staying with an experience more deeply and allowing meaning or patterns to emerge. We will decide together what feels relevant and useful.

Counselling may include

Whatever is asking for your attention.

You may be living with anxiety or depression, experiencing periods of low mood or overwhelm, or simply noticing that something no longer feels right.

ย

You do not need a diagnosis, a clearly defined problem or a particular level of distress to begin counselling.

Counselling for FIFO men

FIFO life can affect far more than work. Long shifts, time away and repeated transitions between site and home can place pressure on relationships, identity, sleep, substance use and mental health.

โ€‹

I particularly value working with men navigating the realities of FIFO life. Our conversations can be practical and honest while also making room for what may be happening beneath the surface. You will not be shamed, spoken down to or treated as a problem to be fixed.

How long counselling lasts

There is no predetermined length of time.

The frequency, focus and duration of counselling will be a collaborative decision. There is no expectation that you commit to working with me for a set period.

We will consider together whether the work continues to feel useful. Sometimes continuing will be right; at other times, changing the pace, pausing to integrate what has shifted or concluding may serve you better.

My intention is not to keep therapy going for its own sake, but to support work that remains honest, purposeful and responsive to what you need.
